MBK in NYC
Mark your calendars! Save the date! On Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:30 pm, I'll be at NYU's Deutsches Haus for a conversation with Amanda Hesser and Deb Perelman about My Berlin Kitchen, out now in paperback!

I am beyond excited, as you can well imagine.

New York City! Amanda Hesser! Deb Perelman! My book! YOU!

I hope you can come and am counting the days, hours, minutes, seconds until I am back in New York City again. I have been in the throes of missing New York for several weeks now and it's been this dullish sort of ache in my chest where I keep pushing it down to to keep it from interfering with the rest of my life. But now, now! It is in reach! And I am all afire.

(I also need to cool it with the exclamation marks, but it is just one of those evenings.)

Can't wait to see you there!

Time and date: Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:30 p.m.
Location: Deutsches Haus at NYU (here is a nifty map)
The Scene: Me, Amanda and Deb chatting about food blogging, recipes, love and happiness (!) with Martin Rauchbauer, director of Deutsches Haus.
Other: The event is free of charge, but space is limited so please rsvp to this address: deutscheshaus[dot]rsvp[at]nyu[dot]edu

Wow! Enjoy your NYC visit. I’m going to get my own fix for just around 24 hours on 10/27, which also happens to be my birthday (I’m going for a dear friend’s wedding). The down side is that I have to leave my boy for the first time ever, which I’m dreading. But I think that the city that defines cities for me will help to soothe me. I’m in the midst of planning my personal adventure right now….

You and Deb write my two more frequented food blogs and are my primary source of cook inspiration. But I live in Tübingen, not the east coast of the US anymore (sometimes a bit homesick, especially around fall season and thanksgiving…) so any events in Southwest Germany :)? Ooh, and I got some amazing truffle sheepsmilk cheese today at the market, there are some perks to living here…

Hi Luisa, I’ve been a longtime reader and New Yorker! I really wish I could come to this event, but unfortunately it conflicts with work. I’m looking forward to reading the book. Have fun here in the city and eat well! (Kate from liquidyolk.com)

What a great panel! I’m excited to attend. I was at your reading in Brooklyn and it was great fun.
One note – I attempted to RSVP via the email address, but it kept bouncing back. I’m going to try to call when they are open. FYI…

Congratulations on My Berlin Kitchen paperback! What heartache that I won’t be able to attend! Double drats–as you are so close yet so far, just a train ride really between Philly and NYC…but you came ALL THE WAY FROM BERLIN…New York is so much closer than Berlin!…such angst! Tug of war aside, I have been a silent reader and beneficiary of your lovely words and wit and I hope to cross paths with you someday. Thank you for sharing yourself with the rest of us. Any plans to come to the city of Brotherly Love?

    Hey Luisa,
So this is my first time commenting here, but I have to say that I grabbed “My Berlin Kitchen” at Dussmann’s recently (yes, I live in Berlin, too), tore through it over the weekend, read it again, and am now making all the recipes. I adore food and cooking, and having a fabulous cooking memoir set right here in my own adopted city was wonderful. I’m so glad I found it! If you ever do something in Berlin (as I bet you did when the book was first released), I’ll definitely come.
    LG,

I’ve only recently discovered your blog, have already read your book (love both!), and am here in Berlin for a week visiting our son (he is a junior at NYU, spending a semester here). I’ve rented an apartment for the week in Berlin and have so far made Depression Stew, and Spaghetti with breadcrumbs, capers & parsley for my vegetarian boy; both were big hits. Has anyone pointed out the little oops in the spaghetti recipe yet? Capers are mentioned in the title, not in the recipe (at least on my Kindle version), and anchovies aren’t mentioned in the title. Obviously it works either way, and when I make it next I will use anchovies for myself, which sounds yummy.
Keep up the good work, and I hope that you’re having lots of fun!

Congrats! Loved your book- pre-ordered it when it came out via Amazon.
Looking forward to your next book and love your blog! Have been reading your blog since way before the can of Baked Beans post. Your blog was the first food blog I started reading and it was because I really liked your writing.
I hardly post but read every post on your blog.
